Book #2

We have not yet properly introduced the first book to be published, it will soon happen. And we want to talk about #2? Well we don’t, but to be perfectly fair, we should. This is no longer secret, #2 is under development. We don’t know if it becomes popular or not, but it will be very useful to many people out there.

Does it have a name?
Not really.

What’s the subject?
Basic math. Numbers, Basic operations with numbers.

But you get it at school, no?
Yes, you do. But our book approaches this subject differently. It should be good for kids, elementary school students, but it should also help older kids and adults as well. One day you may realize that math is important not just at the job, but for normal standard living. Math is everywhere. And perhaps you find that you are not really sure how the numbers work for you and how to understand them.

Well, that could be helpful! But math is huge subject, that’s a topic for many books.

True again. This book will approach only math basics, explain them and show how to think about it. One trouble from the past and schools we wish to avoid is to memorize anything. I mean you have to memorize something, parts of basics, but it is much more important to learn how to use numbers and what it all means.

For example, you can memorize that 2 + 2 = 4. Great and easy. But do you understand what you just memorized and why and what for? It is much better to first understand and imagine what is the number 2. What does it mean. When you stop memorizing but instead understand what 2 means, it is easier to understand what 2 + 2 means. It is just like putting the number 2 and number 2 together.

This is just one very simple example. But the biggest benefit is not that you understand what 2 + 2 means. But if you truly do, then you can easily jump to other numbers. Suddenly 3 + 2 is no problem!

This book may be simple step by step description so anyone can understand it. Start with numbers, how to write them and read them and what they mean. Then you can take a peak at more complex numbers and how to handle them. When you have them covered too, it’s time to learn the most basic math operations. You will not be adding, subtracting and multiplying and dividing to memorize anything, you will learn to understand how any operation can be solved, why, and what is it good for.

At the end the book will open up the math for everyone. It will not teach you to remember this and remember that, but it will try to teach you to think about this, show you reasons of how to do this and why. It will teach you the obvious, but it will also give you skills to think better and more. And when that happens, it will open up all other areas of human knowledge. It won’t happen because of this book, it will happen because of you.
