It’s true that if it was not for Instacart, life for people like me would be very difficult. And we would go hungry. People who live alone and who cannot move by car, and because we are in the United States where public transportation does not exist, it would be very ouch.
InstaCart does not pay me anything to say this, but they do their job mostly very well when they try. If you use them, do not depend on them, give them some extra time, assume that mistakes will happen and have some tolerance.
When you place your order as I did today around noon and I was benevolent and checked 3 hour delivery time space, they confirmed this to me and messaged that it will get here between 6 and 9 pm. I have some experience with them and so this is risky time space. What if they can’t make it? What if they have an accident?
So I should not pick such time. Play it safe.
Between 5 and 6 they texted me about 6 or 7 times. Automatic texting, it means nothing, just a reminder to wait for your delivery. And extra money for phone companies. So we get messages with nothing and we pay for them. They post the same messages on their web site and if their site is on your phone, you get the same message 3 times through different sources. Idiotic, but ok.
Of course they were supposed to be here between 6 and 9, they also confirmed this several times. Until they sent messages around 8:45 pm, that they are running little late. And that message says no details, you have to go online. And when you go online, it is now saying it will be between 9 and 10 pm. Oh well. I should have not picked the big 3 hour delivery window space.
It’s 9 pm now and nobody has been here so far. I’ll have to wait or cancel this order.
Web site has been updated, again, it says this:
Your order is confirmed
Arriving between 9:30pm – 10pm
So they insist this will happen today. I think it will but if it does not, I will need to keep it in mind for the next time. There is a next time, they have monopoly and they are starting to figure it out. Gotta be tolerant, but business has to work, otherwise what’s the point? Focus on important stuff such as delivery, not making too many mistakes, and please stop texting like some 4 years old kid would. Text just whatever is important and necessary to know, don’t try to sell me some extra junk.
So I gotta be more patient now.
